That children are our greatest teachers is nearly a cliché. That our “inner children” are still major players in our lives is a psychological baseline. Since we were equally catalysts in our parents lives, as adults we are still trying to bridge both roles. Tough to juggle.
There is a hidden physical balance – or you would fall down every day.
There is another balance between our “acting outs”, our “temporally displaced” parts and our “gender roles”.
They are both felt to be taking place on an uneven playing field – and we call their interactions stress.
Another dynamic and tense balance also exists – that between the child you were, the “inner child” that you still are and the “dreamfiller” you want to be.
So these days will be devoted to recruiting from all of our senses: to the reawakening of some of the unlimited possibilities with which we began our lives; to touching again the baby’s innate capacity for trust; and to taking careful steps toward consciously becoming at last our own best teachers.
